#1 Reason Small Businesses Fail

Let’s use or imagination for a second.

Lets say that you work for a large corporation and you give this corporation

your all. I mean your time your talents everything. You’re the guy spending the late nights there, working on the weekends. I mean 60 and 70 hour work weeks are the normal for you. You’re the all-star, the one who simply just gets the job done.

Now just imagine with me, it’s payday and everyone else is talking about their big weekend plans, yet you haven’t gotten a check yet. Surely something must be wrong?

Remember, you’re the hardest worker they have!

So you go down to HR to sort this out and when you ask about your check. They politely smile and say “sorry you don’t get one this week.”

Now that story sounds crazy right? But I’m here to tell you its not. I see business owners week after week not paying themselves. They have this mindset that they are to be last on the list and must sacrifice personal stability for business security.

I’m here to tell you, that if you are running a business that doesn’t pay you, your business model is broken!! I want you to understand, you’re not only hurting yourself,

but your family as well.

So here’s what I want you to do.

I want you to start a new budget from scratch. And at the top of that budget, I want you to write down what you’re going to pay yourself on a monthly basis. This number should be enough to at least provide for yourself and your family with the necessities.

Next, I want you to look to see where you can trim expenses out of overhead so that your profit margins aren’t affected.

Putting your business ahead of yourself is a noble thought, but it simply doesn't work. You must get paid and you must provide for yourself and your family!
